Established in 1866, the award winning Somers Forge is a world leader in open die forging and machining. Somers is best known for its first-class reputation among many of the world’s Navies, with expertise in the finish machining & refurbishment of ship propulsion shafts.

Holding a renowned international recognition for successfully combing the latest technology with traditional quality skills, now offering a complete forging service for products finished and ready for industry. Supplying components from 1kg up to 80 tonnes.

Operating a range of presses and hammers, with an in-house heat treatment suite, machine shop, and test laboratory, we serve the most demanding of markets including, Defence, Aerospace, Nuclear and Power Generation.

A & B Richardson Engineering is a leading tool and die manufacturer, holding the largest market share within the UK.

In 2025, following a sustained period of continuous growth, the company relocated to a larger site to increase capacity and enhance operational capability. With continued investment in advanced CNC machining centres and CAD modelling technology, ABR supplies critical components to sectors including aerospace, particularly for landing gear equipment, and has recently begun supporting the defence industry with machined components.

Extensive in-house welding capabilities include TIG, MIG and Flood Welding, offering comprehensive solutions for die repair alongside structured maintenance programmes designed to extend tool life.

The company maintains extensive stocks of commercial carbon and alloy steel grades, alongside its own branded die and tool steels developed to meet demanding performance requirements.

With a long-established reputation across both domestic and global markets, Somers Steelstock is recognised for supplying the highest quality die steels to the forging and engineering sectors. Its portfolio includes internationally trusted grades, such as the US favoured Electem range, providing customers with reliable, high-performance material backed by technical expertise.
